PALMYRA TOWNSHIP TRUSTEES

Public Hearing called to order at 7:00p.m. by Chairman Michael and Trustees Deffenbaugh and Dunn and Fiscal Officer Cofojohn and Tom Grund present.
Chairman Michael led all in attendance in the Pledge of Allegiance.
The public hearing was called for the purpose of discussing levying a $5 tax per Motor Vehicle License pursuant to Ohio Revised Code Section 4504.18 for the purpose of paying the costs and expenses for the construction, reconstruction, improvement, maintenance and repair of township toads, bridges and culverts; for purchasing, erecting, and maintaining traffic signs, markers, lights and signals; for purchasing road machinery and equipment and planning constructing and maintaining suitable buildings for house such equipment and any other purposes as stated in the Ohio Revised Code 4504.18.
Trustee Michael stated that the Township has had to scale back on chip & seal projects due to the cost of such projects. The license tax will help us recoup some of those expenses. The Township has not done an Issue II project in 10 years due the cost of paving the roads. The last road that was paved was Scotts Corners Road in 2007 at a cost of $210,000.
The only resident in attendance stated he was okay with the tax increase because maintenance is important.
